State Leadership Development Conference

November - Des Moines, Iowa

All elected classroom officers, local career association members, will gather for a full-day of leadership training, communications activities, skill-building and networking that allow them to apply their learnings in their local programs and communities. In 2023, nearly 1,100 students in grades 6-12 attended the conference.

Following the this event, Iowa’s State Career Association and new elects will attend the National Student Leadership Academy in Washington, D.C. for an exclusive experience with other top student leaders from 38 other JAG state affiliates.

Ways to get involved:
  • Students: Talk with your iJAG Specialist about running for the local career association so you can take a seat at the 2024. High school juniors can even take their leadership to the next level by applying to become a state officer for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • Employers: Sponsor, host an activity, lead a workshop or provide employer insights through a variety of happenings at the event! From resume-writing support to conducting mock interviews and employment opportunities, send us a message to get involved!
  • Community: Make a donation to alleviate program expenses such as transportation, lodging, onsite resources and technology. Or, volunteer or serve as an onsite mentor.
