From Classroom to Career: How iJAG Helped One Student Land a Job at John Deere

For Lindsay Coble, a 2021 graduate of Dubuque Hempstead High School, iJAG shaped her into the person she is today.

“I joined iJAG because they taught life skills that helped me in my future,” she said. “What I learned in that class was actually useful for everyday life.”

One skill, in particular, stands out: building a resume. “The most important lesson I’m grateful for today is how to build a resume,” she said. That resume led to an interview opportunity with John Deere—an opportunity set up through the iJAG program.

Lindsay got the job. And she’s been there ever since.

Now, three years into her role at John Deere, she’s accomplished major milestones. “I bought my first home and renovated it,” she shared. “I also have a dog and two cats that I love.”

Looking back, Lindsay credits the iJAG experience for giving her the confidence and tools she needed to get started. “iJAG helped me create a good resume, life skills, and knowledge—it shaped me into the person I am today.”

To current students in iJAG, her advice is simple: “Keep going. Life may seem stressful sometimes, but having a good knowledge of your future is the best thing you can do for yourself.”

And to anyone thinking about joining? “Do it,” she said. “I made great memories, friendships, and learned so many life skills from that class.”

From high school student to homeowner, Lindsay’s story shows how the right opportunity—and a little support—can go a long way.
